FLAXX Chair
The FLAXX chair has been conceived as a hybrid between a four-legged and a cantilever chair. The novel construction of the support frame, with the combination of all of the advantages of both concepts, represents a modern interpretation in terms of function and form.
The FLAXX chair has been conceived as a hybrid between a four-legged and a cantilever chair. The novel construction of the support frame, which combines all of the advantages of both concepts, represents a modern interpretation in terms of function and form. The seat shell is made of natural fibre matting, with several layers of the material pressed into a stable, three-dimensional form. Serving as a bonding agent for the natural fibres, which are primarily extracted from flax, an annual plant, are textile polypropylene components. The seat shell and frame are 100% recyclable.
Qualities
_SUSTAINABLE MATERIAL CONCEPT on the basis of renewable resources (the annual plant flax)
_RESOURCE-CONSERVING PRODUCTION through the use of the excellent strength characteristics of the fibre-reinforced plastic
_100% RECYCLABLE
_ HIGH DEGREE OF DESIGN FREEDOM in comparison to wooden seat shells due to the unusual 3-D formability
_ UNIQUE HYBRID CONSTRUCTION, with a self-supporting and cantilever frame
The technology for producing the seat derives from the auto industry and has already been used to make interior components, such as door-trim panels and cargo-area covers. The FLAXX chair represents the first time that this technology has been used in a modified form for furniture, combining the advantages of modern technology with the demands for a concept involving the sustainable use of materials.
